A Holiday Vintage Market + NEW Etsy Shop!

 New Etsy Shop: DS Bakeshop

I am excited to launch my Etsy shop: DS Bakeshop this week just in time for the Holiday season!  This will be an easy way for you to purchase sweets to send as gifts to friends and family afar or for your next dinner party.  Currently, I have added the much loved Salted Caramel Chocolate Oatmeal bars and the Chocolate Lava pots to the shop since they are safe for mailing :)  Check out the link to the right. -->

Note that the Etsy shop does not include cakes or cupcakes so, you will still need to place those orders via email at delicatelysweet@gmail.com.  Happy Sweets giving! :)

A Holiday Vintage Market

Last weekend, I had a blast participating in the Funky Junk Holiday Vintage Market at the Puyallup Fairgrounds.  My eyes were SO overstimulated by all the vintage finds.  I only regret not getting out more to browse!  Here are a few pics of the two day event.  Enjoy!

Vintage Fair Party

Who doesn't love a fun party and theme?! These two did it up well for their little one's birthdays with a Vintage Fair and Carnival theme.  I had the privilege of making a variety of sweets for these two parties.  Sweets included were; Root beer Float, Salted Caramel Churro, Pink Lemonade, Snow Cone and Funnel Cake... ALL cupcake flavors!  ... and a SIX layer Rainbow cake.  I absolutely loved trying out these new flavor combinations! :)

The 'Sweet' Side of Summer

It came and went so fast as it usually does. Summer is on it's way out and soon it will be my favorite season of all!  What a blessed summer it was with family, friends, weddings, new babies, markets, and many warm sunny days. Thank you to all who came out and showed your support at the markets. It truly does warm my heart to see you stop by!  Here are a few pics from the 'sweet' side of summer :)

What a FUN opportunity to make some of the sweets for Zulily's Birthday Bash event!

I had the special privilege to reveal the gender of my friend's new little one coming in December.
It's A GIRL!

A Vintage Market Weekend

My mom and I had so much fun this weekend at the Funky Junk Vintage Market.  She has been collecting fun things to sell ever since the last show we did in November.  This was definitely my cup of tea... combine vintage with sweets... I am all over it!  The weather and turnout was great.  Overall a successful and FUN weekend!

My sweets atop a beautiful oak sideboard my dad refinished.

Vintage kitchen canisters

Of course, I had to come away with two things that sum up my life... baking and teaching! :)

Dad's '53 Ford just about stole the show parked out front our booth.
So many people took pictures with it... so fun!

Awaiting Laura's Little Cowboy

We had such a fun day today celebrating my friend Laura's little boy, soon to arrive this July.  A Cowboy themed shower was definitely the perfect theme for this little boy.  On the dessert menu was Hummingbird cake, Chocolate Mousse and Cowboy cookies.

Of course we had to have Cowboy Cookies! ... And giveaway cookie mix jars.

Part of the gift I made for her was this sign.  I picked up the frame from a flea market I went to and it went perfectly with my idea.

The Momma to be (of now 2!)

This little one can't wait for this Cowboy to arrive! :)

A Tinkerbell Birthday Party

It's hard to believe that my niece is turning 6 this week.  Time really does fly by!  I absolutely LOVE being an auntie!  She has now grown up to be a sweet big sister, fantastic reader, toothless kindergartner.  This past weekend we celebrated her birthday with a Tinkerbell Party.  I was given the task to create a Tinkerbell doll cake.  A fun task it was!  Here are just a few pics :)  Enjoy!

1. I started with a double layer 9 inch cake with a hole in the middle for the doll.

2.  I had baked a portion of the cake in my metal mixing bowl. That trick turned out to be perfect!

3.  Next, I added a thin crumb coat around the whole cake.

 4.  I inserted Tinkerbell and then gave the cake a final coat of frosting with adding some swooshing to make it look like a flowing dress.

5. Now for the real fun part!  Decorating her dress with 'leaves' and flowers.

6. Ta-da!  Finished her off with some pixie dust of course and then packed her up to go.

Miss Autrey, the big birthday girl.

'Pin the wand' on Tinkerbell game!

Happy Birthday, Autrey Ann!  Auntie Johanna loves you so much!
